Link Projects From Your Own HTML Web Site

Housatonic

Project Viewer Server 2010

Project Viewer for Web ServerFor your Web Server - Web Server Viewers run on Microsoft IIS server. Capable of full integration with SharePoint and MS Project Server.

Our server solution makes it possible for you to add a link to a Microsoft Project File on your web site that any team member can open simply by having internet access and a web browser.

If you have a project file (for example, ProjectSample.mpp) on your web site (www.yoursite.com), in a folder or directory (for example, ProjectFolder) you would point to the file with an HTML link like this:

<a href="http://www.yoursite.com/ProjectFolder/
ProjectSample.mpp">Project Sample</a>

With this link, previously only team members with a copy of Microsoft Project, or a Project Viewer on their PC, would be able to download and open the file. However, our server solution makes it possible for you to add a link to a Microsoft Project File on your web site that any team member can open simply by having internet access and a web browser.

You may facilitate this using our free online demo (limited to 400kb files) or by using a copy of our Housatonic Project Viewer Server application on your server.

Using our free online demo server, the html for the link on your web site would look like this:

<a href="http://projectviewer.cloudapp.net/
Views.aspx?mppfile=http://www.yoursite.com/ProjectFolder/
ProjectSample.mpp">Project Sample</a>

Using a copy of Housatonic Project Viewer Server 2010 that you have purchased and installed on your own web server, the html for the link on your web site would look like this:

<a href="http://www.yoursite.com/Projectviewerserver/
Views.aspx?mppfile=ProjectSample.mpp">Project Sample</a>

Note that if - as in the example using our server - your copy of Housatonic Project Viewer and the project file are on separate web servers, you will need to supply the full url to the file after the = sign above.

Example: Project Viewer and Project File on Separate Servers

Here is an example using our demo project viewer server installed in the Azure cloud at

http://projectviewer.cloudapp.net

and a sample mpp file stored at

http://www.housatonic.com/samplempp/projectoffice.mpp

The combined link to view the mpp file is:

http://projectviewer.cloudapp.net/Views.aspx?mppfile=http://
www.housatonic.com/samplempp/projectoffice.mpp
