Dr. MPP - scan MPP files for errors and omissions

Dr. MPP is designed for scanning MS Project MPP files to find and report errors and omissions in project planning. With Dr. MPP, you find mistakes before they have costly consequences. Dr. MPP allows the user to scan Microsoft Project files for common errors including tasks with missing assignments and duplicated tasks. Dr. MPP is available for PC or Windows server.

Predefined warnings include:

  • Tasks without assignments
  • Tasks with more than 80 hours
  • Duplicated tasks
  • Summaries with resources assigned
  • Summaries with precedence links
  • Hyperlinks with broken links
  • Tasks with MUST constraint
  • Tasks with no baseline
  • Similar resource names
  • Overdue tasks

Custom warnings may also be defined.

Dr. MPP is compatible with Microsoft® Project 98, 2000, 2002 and 2003.

Dr. MPP PC - standalone solution compatible with any Windows 98, NT, 2000, XP workstation

Dr. MPP Web Server - installed on a Windows server running Internet Information Server (IIS) versions 4, 5 or 6. Servers supported include Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2003 Server. The following components must be installed on the server: .NET Framework version 1.1; Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) version 3.0 SP4 or higher.

  1. What are the files format supported by Dr. MPP?

    The following files may be submitted to the scan process: Microsoft Project files '98, Microsoft Project files 2000, Microsoft Project files 2002 and Microsoft Project files 2003.

  2. How difficult is to use Dr. MPP?

    There are 3 simple steps: add the files, click on Scan button, see results. Alternatively, you may add a new step, by customizing your own warnings.

  3. Can I add multiple files to be scanned?

    Yes, you can choose either to select multiple files in a folder by holding the CTRL or SHIFT button, or you can add even an entire folder (File -> Add Folder) to the verification process.

  4. Does the application scan password protected files?

    Yes, whenever a password protected file is uploaded, you will be asked to enter the correct password, otherwise the file will not be added in the organizer.

  5. Can I scan subprojects?

    Yes, whenever you add a master project, its subprojects will be automatically included in the verification process if they are found at the location from where they were originally inserted or in the same folder as the master file. If they are not found at these locations, you will be prompted to browse and select the subprojects.

  6. Is there a way I can add folders containing either master projects or password protected files, without being alerted to enter the passwords or browse for the subprojects?

    Yes, if you want to add the files or folders and scan them in a linear process without interruptions, make sure that in Tools -> Options, the option "Always detect and ask for subprojects" is unchecked and the option "Skip password protected files" is checked.

  3. Does the application scan password protected files?

    Yes, whenever a password protected file is uploaded, you will be asked to enter the correct password, otherwise the scan process will not continue.

  4. Can I scan subprojects?

    Yes, if the MPP file you have uploaded contains subprojects, you will be asked to browse for the subprojects and locate them if you want to add them to the scan process.

  5. Is Dr. MPP application compatible with Firefox?

    Yes, Dr. MPP is compatible with the following browsers: IE 6.0+, Netscape 7.1+ and Firefox 1.0+
